Can I give a refund as store credit on a gift card?

Yes - while processing a Cash Return or Credit Return, tick Return as Gift Card and the full return amount is loaded onto a gift card.

These steps use the New Experience. If your menu looks different, click Switch to New Experience at the top of the page.

Steps

1. Go to Sales > Transactions, find the sale, press View, then Open transaction.
2. On the Transaction Details page, press Cash Return or Credit Return.
3. Select the items being returned.
4. Tick Return as Gift Card.
5. Enter:
   • New Gift Card Number - scan or type the card number.
   • Customer (optional).
   • Vendor (optional).
   • Expiration Date - at least 5 years from now, per federal law.
6. Press Authorize & Process Return.

The gift card is created with a starting balance equal to the return amount. You can find it afterwards in Sales > Gift Cards.

Things to know

• Return as Gift Card bypasses all other payment types - the full return amount goes to the gift card.
• A refund to a gift card does not open the cash drawer.
