Printing Labels in Syncrostore

Syncrostore supports two different label printing workflows depending on your environment and preferences.

  • Printing Labels in Syncrostore

Syncrostore supports two different label printing workflows depending on your environment and preferences.

Standard PDF Printing (Recommended for Most Users)

The default Syncrostore printing workflow generates PDF labels that can be printed using:

    • Your operating system print dialog
    • Adobe Acrobat
    • Preview on macOS
    • Manufacturer printer software
    • Third party label printing utilities

    This workflow is:

    • The most compatible
    • The easiest to troubleshoot
    • Recommended for most vendors
    • Compatible with nearly all printers and operating systems

Many vendors successfully use the standard PDF workflow daily without any additional software installed.

    Integrated Printing with QZ Tray

Syncrostore also supports integrated printing using QZ Tray.

QZ Tray allows Syncrostore to send print jobs directly to your locally installed printer without opening the browser print dialog.

    This workflow is recommended for:

    • High volume printing environments
    • Dedicated POS workstations
    • Faster label printing workflows

QZ Tray setup instructions are available here:

Step 1: Select the Correct Items

Before printing, make sure you select the specific inventory items you want labels for.

    Important:

    • If you do not select any items and click Print Barcodes, Syncrostore will generate labels for all inventory items
    • To avoid this, manually select only the items you want to print

Step 2: Choose the Correct Label Format

Go to Print Options and verify your label format.

    • Select the correct label type (example: Dymo 30347)

If your store uses dual pricing:

    • Choose a label format that includes dual pricing
    • Enable Include Dual Pricing Cash and Credit

    Important:
If you select a non dual pricing format in a dual pricing store, both prices will not appear on the label.

    Step 3: Print Labels

After selecting items and confirming your format:

    1. Click Print Barcodes
    2. Review the preview screen
    3. Adjust Quantity to Print if needed
    4. Click Print Selected

You will then see a preview of each label before sending it to your printer.

Step 4: Printing a Single Label

    To print a single label:

    1. Click Print Label on the inventory item
    2. Syncrostore will use your currently selected label format

    Important: Preview vs Printer Output

If your label looks correct in the preview but prints incorrectly:

Syncrostore has already generated the label correctly.

At that point, the issue is almost always related to:

    • Printer settings
    • Printer drivers
    • Operating system settings
    • Browser print settings
    • Local printer configuration

Syncrostore generates the label preview exactly as it is intended to print.

    Important Notes About Integrated Printing

    Integrated printing assumes:

    • QZ Tray is installed and running
    • Your printer drivers are already installed
    • Your printer is functioning correctly outside of Syncrostore
    • Your label size and printer preferences are already configured locally

Syncrostore and QZ Tray do not modify:

    • Label dimensions
    • Printer calibration
    • Darkness settings
    • Orientation
    • Paper size
    • Hardware configuration
    • Printer firmware settings

Syncrostore simply generates the print job and QZ Tray forwards that print job to your locally installed printer using your printer’s existing local configuration.

If your local printer settings are incorrect, you may experience:

    • Blank labels
    • Incorrect label sizing
    • Misaligned labels
    • One label printing instead of multiple
    • Barcode sizing issues
    • Feeding or spacing problems

Before contacting Syncrostore, please verify your printer can correctly print labels directly from your operating system or manufacturer software.

    Barcode Types

Depending on the selected label format and available label space, Syncrostore may generate:

    • Traditional barcodes
    • QR codes
    • DataMatrix codes

These barcode types are not user configurable.

All supported barcode formats generated by Syncrostore are designed to scan properly at checkout when printed clearly and at the correct size.

The barcode type used depends on:

    • Label dimensions
    • Available print area
    • Selected label format
    • Amount of encoded data

    Important:

    • QR codes and DataMatrix codes are normal and expected on smaller labels
    • Smaller labels may not have enough physical space for traditional barcodes
    • Changing barcode types is not supported
    • Barcode readability is primarily dependent on proper printer setup and print clarity

If a barcode will not scan:

    • Compare the printed label to the preview
    • Verify your printer darkness and label sizing settings
    • Ensure scaling or fitting is disabled
    • Confirm the label printed clearly without distortion

If the preview barcode appears correct, the issue is almost always related to local printer configuration or print quality rather than Syncrostore itself.

    Common Printing Issues (Not Syncrostore)

    Please check the following:

    • Incorrect label size selected in printer settings
    • Printer scaling set to:
      • Fit to page
      • Fit to printable area
    • Missing or incorrect printer drivers
    • Incorrect printer selected
    • OS or browser print settings interfering

If the printed label does not match the preview, the issue is outside Syncrostore.

    Having Trouble with QZ Tray?

If integrated printing is not working well in your environment, we recommend:

    1. Uninstalling or disabling QZ Tray
    2. Returning to the standard PDF printing workflow
    3. Printing labels through your local printer software or PDF viewer

Many vendors prefer the PDF workflow because it allows them to fully control printer settings directly through their operating system and printer software.

    Best Practices

    • Always select only the items you want to print
    • Double check your label format before printing
    • Use 1:1 scale (no scaling or fitting)
    • Confirm your printer is configured for the correct label size
    • If something looks off, compare it to the preview first
    • Attend vendor training before launch
    • Review KB articles and videos before contacting support

    Summary

    • Syncrostore generates labels exactly as shown in the preview
    • Most printing problems are caused by printer or system settings
    • Proper selection and label format setup will prevent the majority of issues
    • QZ Tray is optional and intended for integrated printing workflows
    • The standard PDF workflow remains fully supported and recommended for most users
