Why doesn't sales tax show on my vendor sales report?
Why sales tax is left off vendor reports and who tracks it instead.
Sales tax isn't shown on vendor sales pages because the store, not the vendor, collects and pays sales tax. This is by design, not a missing setting.
Who this is for: Vendor (and store owners answering vendor questions)
Why
- The store is the merchant of record. It collects sales tax at the register and sends it to the state.
- Vendors don't collect or remit sales tax on sales made through the store, so tax isn't broken out on vendor-level reports or sent to a vendor's QuickBooks.
What your Sales page does show
On Sales (in the menu), each sale shows:
- Sale: what the item sold for.
- Discount: any discount applied.
- Commission: the store's share.
- You earned: your revenue after the store's commission.
The classic Sales report (Reports > Sales report) shows the same sales with its own columns. Neither has a tax column, and there's no vendor setting to add one.
If you need tax figures
Ask your store owner. Store admins can see tax collected in the Taxes and Sales Detailed reports under Reports.
