Terminal Says "Approved" but Syncrostore Shows "Unclear Response"

If your payment terminal shows "Approved" but Syncrostore displays "Unclear Response" or does not confirm the payment — do not run the card again. The charge has most likely already gone through, and running it a second time would double-charge the customer.

What to do:

Step 1: Check your payment processor's dashboard or app (this is your terminal provider's admin portal — not Syncrostore) to see if the charge was approved and settled.

Step 2a — If the charge did go through: The customer has already been charged. Complete or reconcile the sale in Syncrostore manually. Do not attempt to charge the card again.

Step 2b — If the charge did not go through: You can safely run the card again in Syncrostore.

Why this happens: An "Unclear Response" means the payment terminal processed the transaction, but the confirmation message did not make it back to Syncrostore — usually because of a brief Wi-Fi drop or network timeout between the terminal and your POS device. The payment itself went through on the terminal side; Syncrostore just didn't receive the confirmation.

How to reduce this in the future:

  • Make sure your POS device and payment terminal are on a stable Wi-Fi or wired network connection.
  • If your store experiences frequent Wi-Fi drops, consider a wired Ethernet connection for the POS station.
  • Avoid processing payments during known network interruptions.
