Understanding Discount Types: Amount, Percentage, and New Price

When applying a discount at the POS, three types are available:

• Amount — Subtracts a fixed dollar amount from the item's original price (e.g., $5.00 off).
• Percentage — Subtracts a percentage of the original price (e.g., 10% off).
• New Price — Overrides the item's price entirely with a new specified price.

These apply the same way whether discounting a single item or the entire transaction.
