How do I reset the terminal or attach an approved payment?
Use Terminal Actions to reset a stuck pinpad or attach an approved card authorization.
Use Terminal Actions on the register: Reset Terminal unsticks the pinpad, and Authorizations lets you attach a card charge that went through but never landed on a sale, or resolve one that is still being verified.
Who this is for: Cashiers and managers using the register (Sales > Register).
Terminal Actions sits in the right rail, under your register selector. It acts on the register you have selected. Some warning messages say "Open Menu > Authorizations" - that means Terminal Actions → Authorizations; there is no separate Menu button.
Reset Terminal
Use this when the pinpad is stuck on a prompt, or shows a transaction that's long over.
- Open Terminal Actions → Reset Terminal. A progress window appears.
- When it's done, read the result and press OK.
What it does depends on the terminal:
- DataCap terminals get a real reset. The pinpad returns to its welcome screen and you see "Terminal reset."
- Dejavoo terminals get a status request, not a wipe. You see the terminal's state, for example "SPIN terminal status: …". This tells you whether Syncrostore can still talk to it.
- External terminals (Manual or Internal) aren't connected: "This terminal is external - nothing to reset from here." Reset it on the device.
Authorizations
This gets a customer out the door when a card was charged but the sale didn't finish: a browser crash, a lost connection, a closed tab.
The list shows your payments at this store, plus any card payment that is blocking this register, whoever took it. Admins and managers see every authorization. Each row shows the amount, tender or card type, masked card number, time and a status badge:
| Badge | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Attached | Already on a completed sale. Nothing to do. |
| Unattached | Approved, but not on any sale. You can attach it. |
| Verifying | The register never got a clear answer from the terminal. Use Resolve. |
| Voided | Already reversed. |
Attach an approved payment
- Ring the customer's items up again as a normal sale.
- Open Terminal Actions → Authorizations.
- Find the charge and press Attach. If it covers the balance, the sale completes. Otherwise it shows as a partial and you collect the rest.
Attaching doesn't contact the terminal and takes no money. The customer is not charged twice. It works for every tender, not just cards.
Resolve a payment that is still being verified
- Open Terminal Actions → Authorizations and press Resolve on the row.
- On a Dejavoo terminal, press Check with the processor. If the processor confirms the card was never charged, the payment is released and the register is free. If it was approved, you can attach it.
- If the processor can't answer (or it's a DataCap terminal, which can't be checked), record what the terminal shows under Or record what the terminal shows: It charged - put it on this sale, It charged - no sale to attach it to, Nothing was charged or Can't tell - release it anyway. The last three release the payment, so a Manager or Administrator must enter their 4-digit System PIN in the Manager override box.
Troubleshooting
- "Select a register first.": pick your register in the right rail.
- "Cart is empty. Add items before attaching.": ring the items up first, then attach.
- Resolve or Void is refused on a payment: the card may still be live on a terminal right now. Wait a few minutes and try again. The register won't release a charge that could still go through.
- The register says a card payment on this register was never confirmed: that row is blocking new card payments. Open Authorizations and press Resolve on it. Don't run the card again.
