Taking a Credit Card Payment
Run a card at the Syncrostore register, follow the terminal prompts, and know exactly what to do when the terminal doesn't answer.
Press Credit in the right rail. You'll need a register selected first — see Selecting Your Register.

The Charge amount is pre-filled with the full balance. To take a partial payment, type a smaller amount — the helper line says so: "Charge less than the full amount to take a partial / split payment."
Press Charge card and hand over to the terminal.
While it's running

A progress window appears that you can't close — that's deliberate, so nobody interrupts a live card transaction. It shows a spinner, a message, and a running count of seconds elapsed.
The message cycles every few seconds through:
- Follow the prompts on the terminal.
- Waiting for the customer's card...
- Processing - please don't remove the card.
- Waiting for approval...
These are just reassurance that it's still working. When the terminal reports back, the message stops cycling and tells you the real outcome.
What you'll see at the end
Approved and covers the balance — the window closes and Sale complete appears.
Approved but partial — the window closes and you'll see "Partial: $20.00 paid, $36.68 left".
Declined — a red message with the reason from the processor.
The terminal didn't answer — an amber message:
The terminal did not answer in time. The payment is being verified - do NOT run the card again.
Read that literally. The charge may well have gone through. Running the card again is how customers get charged twice. Press OK and see below.
If the terminal didn't answer
The register keeps the payment marked as unverified and will sort it out for you. Press Credit again for the same sale. Before anything touches the terminal, the register checks for that unresolved payment and:
- If it was approved for this exact amount, it attaches it to the sale — no second charge. You'll see "Prior authorization recovered - sale completed".
- If it was approved for a different amount, it blocks you and tells you so, so you can resolve it deliberately.
- If it's still being verified, it tells you to wait rather than re-running.
This is why the "do not run the card again" message matters — the system is designed to recover, but only if you let it.
External terminals
If your register is set up as Manual or Internal, there's no integration. Run the card on the standalone terminal, then record what happened:
Fill in the amount charged, optionally the auth code and last 4 digits, then press Approved or Declined. Pressing Declined records nothing at all.
