Why do I get an error linking my bank in SyncroPay/SyncroACH?

Fix terms of service token, canceled bank linking, savings account and VPN errors.

Most SyncroPay/SyncroACH linking errors are caused by a VPN or old browser data, a savings account, or a typo in your name, and a few need Syncrostore support to reset your setup.

Who this is for

  • Vendors setting up SyncroPay/SyncroACH direct deposit.
  • Store admins helping a vendor who reports a linking error.

First, try these

  1. Turn off any VPN, proxy, iCloud Private Relay or ad blocker. Syncrostore's security filtering blocks VPN traffic, so the setup page can hang or time out.
  2. Use the latest Google Chrome on a computer.
  3. Do a hard refresh (Windows: Ctrl+F5; Mac: Cmd+Shift+R) or clear your browser cache, then try again.
  4. If it still won't load, try a different network, for example your phone's cellular hotspot instead of Wi-Fi.

Error-by-error

What you see What it means What to do
Setup page keeps loading / never opens Usually a VPN, network or cached-page problem, or your login is missing the Vendor role Do the steps above. If it still fails, ask your store to confirm your login has the Vendor role.
"Loading terms of service" never finishes, or "could not load its terms of service" The terms load from our payment partner Refresh once. If it persists, contact support; they can reset your setup.
"SyncroPay/SyncroACH could not generate a terms-of-service token" Usually a store-level setup issue Contact support (or ask your store to). Support fixes it on their side, then you refresh.
"Bank linking was canceled" and you can't link another account Often happens after a wrong routing number Contact support to reset your SyncroPay/SyncroACH setup, then link again.
Error right after entering details Often invalid characters in a name field (for example in Last name) Retype every field by hand and remove any character the form flags in the named field, then try again. Verify: which characters are rejected; hyphens and apostrophes in names may be allowed
Your bank info "disappeared" The account was rejected because it can only receive, not send, ACH payments (usually a savings account) Link a checking account that supports both ACH debits and deposits.
A "Danger Zone" section appears Not an error. It's where you would unlink your bank account Nothing to do. Don't click it unless you want to remove the account.

If your store still uses Stripe

This article covers SyncroPay/SyncroACH. If your store still pays through Stripe, bank verification happens on Stripe's site: see the Stripe section of How do I set up direct deposit for my payouts? (vendors), and contact Stripe for Stripe verification problems.
