Integrated Receipt Printing Setup with QZ Tray

Syncrostore supports integrated receipt printing through QZ Tray. Once configured, receipts print automatically without additional print prompts or printer selection windows. This setup also allows Syncrostore to automatically control your cash drawer during cash transactions.

Before You Begin

Before configuring integrated printing, make sure:

  • QZ Tray is installed and running on the POS machine
  • Your receipt printer is installed and working in Windows or macOS
  • Your cash drawer is connected through the receipt printer (if applicable)

Integrated printing must be configured individually on each POS machine.


Configure Integrated Printing

Step 1: Open POS Hardware Settings

  1. Log in to Syncrostore as an Administrator
  2. Scroll down to Admin Tools
  3. Click Preferences
  4. Open the POS Hardware tab

Step 2: Detect Your Printers

  1. Click Detect Printers
  2. Your browser will display a QZ Tray permission prompt:

    “Syncrostore wants to connect to QZ Tray”

  3. Click Allow
  4. Check Remember this decision

Once “Remember this decision” is selected, you should not need to approve future print requests on that machine again.


Step 3: Test Receipt Printing

  1. Click Test Receipt
  2. Your receipt printer should immediately print a sample receipt

If the receipt prints successfully, Syncrostore is communicating properly with QZ Tray and your printer.


Step 4: Test the Cash Drawer

  1. Click Open Cash Drawer
  2. Your connected drawer should open automatically

If the QZ Tray permission prompt appears again, click Allow. This only happens if the permission was not previously remembered.


How Integrated Printing Works

Once configured:

  • Syncrostore automatically sends receipts directly to the printer
  • Cashiers no longer need to select printers or change print settings
  • Receipt printing happens automatically during transactions
  • The configured printer becomes tied to that specific POS machine

Cash Drawer Behavior

Syncrostore intelligently controls the cash drawer based on payment type.

Cash Transactions

  • The cash drawer opens automatically

Credit Card Transactions

  • The cash drawer will NOT open

This prevents unnecessary drawer openings during card sales.


Example Workflow

  1. Add items to the cart
  2. Select a payment type
  3. Complete the transaction
  4. Click Apply and Print Receipt

Syncrostore will:

  • Automatically print the receipt
  • Open the cash drawer only if it was a cash sale

No additional print dialogs or printer settings are required.

QZ Tray must be installed and running on each POS machine before integrated printing will work.

After installation, restart your browser and return to the POS Hardware settings in Syncrostore to complete setup.


Important Notes

  • Integrated printing must be configured on every POS machine individually
  • QZ Tray must remain running on the computer
  • Receipt printers are assigned per machine
  • Printer prompts typically only appear during the initial setup
