How to Add Item Details: Description, Brand, Category, Location, and Notes

On the Item Details tab, you can add detailed information about your product:

  • Description — A large text area for a detailed summary of the product, its features, condition, or specifications.
  • Local Category — Assign the item to a broad, high-level group. You can select from existing categories or create your own by typing a new name.
  • Local Subcategory — Further classify the item under the selected category. You must select a category first.
  • Brand — The manufacturer or company that produced the item.
  • Inventory Location — Where the physical item is stored (e.g., "Shelf 4," "Showroom").
  • In Store — Checkbox indicating whether the item is physically in the store.
  • Cost of Item — The price you paid to acquire the item (wholesale/purchase price).
  • Date Purchased — When the item was originally bought or added.
  • Notes — Internal comments or special handling instructions.

Note about categories: Categories and subcategories are shared across the store. Your admin may not permit you to create your own — follow your store policy.
