How do I Print Labels for Variants?
Printing Labels for Variant Items
Variant items are products that come in multiple versions — for example, the exact same jar may be sold in different sizes. When printing labels for variant items, you cannot set the print quantity at the parent item level. Instead, you need to expand the item to configure quantities for each individual variant.
How to Print Labels for Variant Items
- Select the items you want to print using the check boxes in the inventory grid. Note that you will have to select the parent item. You will select which variants you want to print at the next step
- Click Print Options, then click Print Barcodes.
- In the pop-up, locate any variant item. You will notice that the quantity field for the parent item is not editable.
- Click the Expand Row button on the parent variant item to reveal its individual variants.
- Set the print quantity for each variant individually.
- Set quantities for any non-variant items in the list as normal.
- Click Print Selected to generate the PDF.
- Click Print to send the job to your printer.
How Variant Labels Look
Labels printed for variant items automatically include both the item name and the relevant attribute values (such as size or color) at the front of the label name. This makes it easy to distinguish between variants quickly at checkout.
For example, a label for a 32oz mason jar might read: 32oz – Ball Mason Jar, while the 16oz variant would read: 16oz – Ball Mason Jar.
