Bulk Dual Pricing Optimization

Dual Pricing Optimization resets your cash prices in bulk so the credit (tag) price printed on your labels lands on a clean number, like $20.99 instead of $20.70. Open it from the Inventory page, in the three-dots menu, under Promotions & deals, by choosing Dual Pricing Optimization.

Who this is for: Vendors (on their own items) and store Administrators and Managers. Cashiers don't have access.

These steps use the new Inventory page. The option only appears if your store is set up for dual pricing with a card rate.

Use it to give your tags consistent endings (.99, .95, whole dollars and so on) without editing items one at a time.

Open Dual Pricing Optimization

  1. Go to Inventory.
  2. Set any search and filters for the items you want to change. (See Scope below.)
  3. Select the three dots in the top right.
  4. Under Promotions & deals, choose Dual Pricing Optimization.

Vendors with more than one vendor ID: choose the vendor on the Inventory page first. The tool works on one vendor at a time.

Administrators and Managers: if you've chosen a vendor on the page, only that vendor's items change. With no vendor chosen, every vendor in the store is included.

Scope

There's no scope setting in the modal. It uses whatever search and filters are currently set on the Inventory page. With none set, it covers every item in your current view.

Choose your settings

  • Clean up the... - Credit (tag) price (default) finds the cash price that makes the tag land on a clean number. Cash price makes the cash price itself land on a clean number, and the tag follows from it.
  • Round - Up, Down, or Nearest (up or down). This is the direction the price moves to reach the clean number.
  • To a price that... - the ending you want:
    • Ends in .99 (default)
    • Ends in .95
    • Is a whole dollar
    • Ends in .49 or .99
    • Is a multiple of $0.50, $0.25, $0.10 or $0.05
    • Ends in 9 cents (.09, .19, .29 ... .99)
    • Ends in custom cents... - enter exactly two digits, such as 99, 95 or 50

The preview refreshes a moment after each change.

Example: with a 3.5% card rate, an untaxed item at $20.00 cash has a $20.70 tag. Set to Credit (tag) price, Up, ends in .99, the cash price becomes $20.28 and the tag becomes $20.99.

Each item's own tax setting (tax-exempt or custom tax rate) is used, so the tag matches what the register charges, to the cent.

The summary box shows how many prices would change, plus why any were left alone:

  • _ prices would change - the items that will be updated.
  • _ are already there - the price already meets your rule.
  • _ were left alone because the vendor hasn't opted into Vendor Choice - those items show one price on the tag.
  • _ couldn't be matched to a clean tag price - no cash price produces the ending you asked for, so the item is left alone.

The table shows Cash price now and after, and Tag now and after. It lists the first 300 changes, but Apply changes all of them, not just the ones shown.

Apply the changes

  1. Check the summary and the table.
  2. Select Apply. The button changes to "Yes, change N prices".
  3. Select it again to confirm. Prices are saved and the modal closes.
  4. Reprint labels for the items that changed.

Nothing changes until the second click.

Tip: tags already on your shelves keep the old price until you reprint them.

What gets saved

  • Only the cash price is changed. The tag price follows from it.
  • Items with variants are priced per variant. The item-level price isn't used.
  • Items priced at $0 are skipped.
  • Prices are recalculated from your current prices when you confirm, so the result reflects the latest price even if one was edited while the modal was open.
  • Changes are saved the same way as Bulk price / quantity update, in one transaction, with each change recorded in the Activity log.

There's no undo button. To go back, change the prices again manually or with Bulk price / quantity update.

FAQ

  • Why is Dual Pricing Optimization missing from my menu? Your store isn't set up for dual pricing, no vendor applies (see Vendor Choice below), or your role is Cashier.
  • Which should I choose, Credit (tag) price or Cash price? Most stores want the tag to be the clean number, so use Credit (tag) price. Cash price rounds the cash price itself and lets the tag land wherever it lands.
  • What is Vendor Choice? If your store uses it, each vendor opts in to showing a separate card price. A vendor who hasn't opted in has one price on their tags, so their items are skipped.
  • Why didn't every item change? Items already at the target, items from vendors who haven't opted in, items priced at $0, and the occasional item with no valid match are skipped. The summary counts each group.
  • Why does the table show fewer rows than the number of changes? The table shows the first 300 only. Apply changes all of them.
  • Can I change only some items? Yes. Set the filters or search on the Inventory page before you open the modal.

Troubleshooting

  • "Choose a vendor first." A vendor with several vendor IDs needs to choose one on the Inventory page.
  • "This store isn't set up for dual pricing..." No card rate is set for the store. Contact support.
  • "This vendor hasn't opted into Vendor Choice..." That vendor's tags show a single price, so there's nothing to optimize.
  • "Only store administrators and managers can use Dual Pricing Optimization." Cashiers don't have access.
  • The summary says "Enter the two digits the cents should end in". You chose custom cents and the field isn't two digits yet.
  • Some prices "could not be updated". Those rows failed to save. Run the optimization again; anything already saved shows as "already there".
