Use the Label Designer to build your own label from scratch — choose the size, drag on the fields you want (price, description, SKU, barcode, and more), and save it. Your saved designs follow your login, so a label you build once is available in every store you work in. When you print, you just pick your design and go.
Opening the Label Designer
Go to Inventory → Print Options → Advanced print options(click on Open Label Designer)
A quick tour of the screen
The Label Designer has three areas:
- Add fields (left, teal) — the fields you can place on the label.
- Canvas (center, orange) — your label, drawn to scale. Set the size above it.
- Properties (right, pink) — settings for whatever element you have selected.
- Saved designs (left, below the fields, yellow) — your library of saved labels.
Step 1 — Set your label size
Above the canvas, pick a preset size (for example 1.5 × 1 Dymo 30347) from the dropdown, or choose your own by typing a width (W) and height (H) in inches. The canvas resizes instantly to match.
💡 Tip: Set the size to match the label stock loaded in your printer.
Step 2 — Add your fields
Click a field in Add fields to drop it onto the label. You can add any of:
- Description — the item name
- Price — the item price
- Reg Price — the regular (credit) price for dual-pricing
- Vendor ID, Item ID, SKU — identifiers
- Variant — the variant details (e.g. Color: Red Size: M)
- Barcode — a scannable barcode
Step 3 — Position, resize, and style
- Move an element by dragging it.
- Resize it by dragging the green handle in its bottom-right corner.
- Style it in the Properties panel: position, width/height, font size, bold, alignment, and (for barcodes) the barcode type.
The box height follows the font size, so your text is never cut off.
Working with barcodes
Select a Barcode element and choose the Symbology in Properties:
- Code128 — a standard 1D barcode that scans on any scanner (recommended if you're not sure).
- DataMatrix / QR — compact 2D codes; use these only if your scanners read 2D codes.
Barcodes have a minimum size so they stay scannable, and 2D codes are kept square automatically. A dashed quiet zone shows the clear space to leave around the barcode — don't place other fields inside it.
Understanding the guides (safe zones)
Two dashed guides help you keep your label clean:
- Red dashed = printable safe area. Keep all content inside this line so nothing gets clipped at the edge.
- Blue dashed = barcode quiet zone. Keep other fields out of this space so the barcode scans reliably.
Preview your label
Click Preview PDF to see exactly how your label will print. The preview is a true-to-size PDF — what you see is what prints.

Save your design (and reuse it)
- Type a name in the field at the top.
- (Optional) Check Default to make this your go-to label.
- Click Save.
Your saved labels appear under Saved designs, where you can:
- Click a design to open and edit it
- New — start a fresh label
- Duplicate — copy the current design as a starting point
- Delete — remove a saved design
Because designs are tied to your login, they're available in every store you operate.
Printing with your design
- On your inventory page, select the item(s) you want to label.
- Open Print Options, then Advanced print options and choose your saved design from the dropdown.
- Print. Your design prints the same way for a single item or a batch.
Tips & troubleshooting
- My label prints the wrong size. Make sure the label stock loaded in your printer matches the size you set in the designer. The design PDF is exact; your printer/driver controls fit.
- My barcode won't scan. Increase the barcode size, keep other fields out of the blue quiet zone, and use Code128 if your scanners are 1D only.
- Text looks cut off. Give the text box a little more height, or lower the font size — the designer enforces a minimum, but very long text may still need room.
- I don't see my design in another store. Designs follow your login. Make sure you're signed in with the same account.
- How can I use an Inkjet sheet with a Custom Design? Due to the numerous measurements involved, and different forms of inkjet sheets, we are unfortunately unable to offer inkjet printing for custom designed labels at this time.
