Editing a Sale: Quantity, Price, Description, and Removing Items

Change a quantity, override a price, fix a description, or remove a line from a sale in the Syncrostore register — and what each tag on a cart row means.

 Reading a cart row

POS2 line item

Every row shows the item description, some tags, four numbers, a quantity stepper and three buttons.

The tags tell you what kind of line it is:

Tag Meaning
Item #1234 The inventory item ID — always shown
Vendor: 57 The vendor this line pays out to — always shown
▼ 10% off A discount is applied to this line
LAYAWAY This line is a layaway down payment or payment
RENT This is a vendor rent payment
GIFT CARD This is a gift card being sold
8.25% Tax This line uses a custom tax rate

The four numbers are the cash and card price (left) and the cash and card line total (right). Both are always shown — there's no toggle.

Changing the quantity

Use and +, or type directly into the number box. You'll see "Quantity updated".

You cannot reduce a line below 1. To take an item off the sale entirely, use Delete.

The three row buttons

Delete removes the whole line, whatever the quantity. There is no confirmation — one press and it's gone. You'll see "Item removed".

Desc opens a small box titled "Edit description:" pre-filled with the current text. Edit it and press OK. The change shows on the cart and on the receipt. An empty description is rejected.

Price opens a box titled "Override price:" pre-filled with the current price. Type the new one and press OK.

All three work on any row — you don't need to select it first.

The one thing to know about price overrides

Overriding a price removes any discount or sale on that line.

If the row had a ▼ 10% off tag, it disappears and the DISCOUNTS total drops. The price you type becomes the line's full price, with nothing applied on top of it.

If you wanted to give a further reduction on top of an existing sale price, use Discounts instead — see Applying a Discount at the Register.

You can override a line to $0.00. A negative price is rejected with "Enter a valid price".

Selecting a row

Click anywhere on a row that isn't a button to select it. The card turns green and the right rail changes from "No item selected - click a cart row" to "Selected: …".

Only two things need a selected row:

  • Layaway Item
  • Applying a discount to one item rather than the whole sale

Clearing everything

Clear All in the right rail asks "Clear the entire cart?" and then empties the sale, including removing the attached customer.

Warning: if you've already taken a card payment on this sale, clear it from the Payments tab first. Clear All removes the sale but does not reverse a charge that already went through the terminal. You'll need to void the partial payment first.
