Choosing a Product Variant at the Register

When you scan a product that comes in several sizes or colours, Syncrostore asks which one. Here's when that happens and how to skip it.

 When you'll see it

Scan or look up a product that has variants without identifying a specific one, and the register opens a window titled "Choose a variant".

Each row shows the variant's attributes — "Color: Navy; Size: L;" — with its SKU, price and stock underneath. Click one to add it.

If the item has no variants set up, nothing appears and the item is added straight away.

How to skip the picker

The window only appears when you scan the parent product. Scan the variant itself and the register adds it directly. Any of these work:

  • The variant's own SKU
  • A V barcode such as V4471
  • The variant's globalV… code

If you print variant labels, they already carry a variant barcode — so scanning a label from the shelf never triggers the picker. Only scanning a generic parent barcode does.

Two things to watch

  • The picker doesn't hide out-of-stock variants. A variant showing 0 in stock is still selectable. Check the stock number before picking.
  • Clicking a variant in the Lookup Item results doesn't add that variant. Lookup adds the parent product, which re-opens this picker so you can choose. It's an extra click, not a fault.
