Adding Items to a Sale: Scanning, Add Product, and Lookup Item

Three ways to get an item onto a sale in the Syncrostore register — scanning, typing a code, or searching by description with Lookup Item.

 The scan box

The box at the top of the sale reads "Enter item ID, SKU or UPC...". Scan into it, or type a code and press Enter. The box clears itself and the cursor stays put, so you can scan the next item straight away.

Enter ItemID SKU

Add Product does exactly the same thing as pressing Enter. It's there for touchscreens.

What the box accepts

  • The item's SKU
  • The item's UPC
  • The numeric item ID
  • A variant's own SKU — this adds that specific variant directly
  • A variant code in the form V4471
  • A global item or variant code

What it does not accept

Descriptions. Searching by description is what Lookup Item button is for.

You can add as many out of stock items as you want.

Lookup Item

Press Lookup Item to search by description. The window is titled "Item lookup" and the search box reads "Search description / SKU / UPC / item #". Type and press Enter or press Search.

Item Lookup

Each result shows the item description with the SKU, price and stock on hand. Click a result to add it and close the window.

Three things to know about the results

  • Description search matches every word you type, in any order. Searching blue mug finds "Ceramic Mug, Blue" and "Blue Speckled Mug".
  • You get the first 10 matches, ordered by description. There's no paging — if what you want isn't there, search more specifically.
  • Out-of-stock items still appear. The stock number tells you; nothing is filtered out.

If nothing matches you'll see "No matches."

After you add an item

The item appears as a card in the cart and the totals update. You'll see "Added to cart" at the top of the screen.
