How do I ring up something that isn't in inventory?

Press + Manual Item on the register to charge for something that has no inventory record, such as a repair, a custom order, a delivery fee or a one-off item.

Who this is for: Cashiers using the register (Sales > Register).

Add a manual item

1. On the register, press + Manual Item. It's the blue button in the right rail, next to Other Payment Methods.
2. Fill in the window:
   • Vendor ID: Consignment Pro plans only (see below).
   • Description: pre-filled with "Manual Item". Required. Type over it.
   • Quantity: pre-filled with 1.
   • Price: required. Must be more than $0.00.
   • Custom Tax Rate (optional): defaults to "Default tax".
3. Press Save to add the item and close the window, or Save & Add New to add it and keep the window open for the next line.

Every field selects itself when you click or tab into it, so you can type straight over the pre-filled values. Pressing Enter in Description, Quantity or Price does the same as Save & Add New.

The vendor rule

On Consignment Pro plans a vendor is required. The Vendor ID box has a dropdown of your vendors. Start typing an ID, alias, name or business name to filter it. On other plans the field doesn't appear and the sale is recorded to the store.

Custom tax

Leave the tax dropdown on "Default tax" and the line is taxed at your store's normal rate. Pick one of your custom rates, shown like "Prepared Food (2.5%)", to override it for this line only. Admins set up custom rates under Settings > Store settings, Financial tab, Custom Tax Rates section (Add Rate, then Save Rate).

Troubleshooting

• "A vendor is required.": pick a vendor in the Vendor ID box. Nothing is added until you do.
• "Vendor 123 does not exist for this store.": the box accepts free text, so a typed ID may not exist. Pick the vendor from the dropdown instead.
• Clicking outside the window doesn't close it: that's deliberate, so a stray tap doesn't discard what you typed. Use the × to abandon it.
